Conservation Volunteers

Ecoteer Responsible Travel volunteering teaching projects in Asia & Africa

Conservation volunteers

There are many conservation volunteer projects associated with Ecoteer. Conservation projects benefit from volunteers in many ways. Two of the main benefits of volunteers to conservation projects is that they provide extra hands to make everyday menial tasks easier, like cage cleaning, beach cleans etc. Volunteers also provide conservation projects with much needed funds to help keep them operating, it is this reason that many conservation volunteer projects are slightly more expensive than teaching project for example.

Ecoteer has both terrestrial and marine conservation projects in Asia and Africa. In Africa conservation volunteers can get involved in Rhino and elephant conservation whereas in Asia you can do tiger conservation anti poaching patrols in the rainforests for Malaysia.

The marine conservation volunteer projects are mainly in Southeast Asia, with two projects being based in the Perhentian islands – marine research project and a sea turtle conservation project. You can also conduct seagrass and seahorse studies in Cambodia. If you are looking to do your conservation volunteer work with something larger than head off to South Africa to conduct dolphin and whales conservation projects.

If you want to work with primates then you should consider our Orangutan conservation volunteer projects in Borneo and java.  You can help wild and rescued orangutans giving you different types of experience.
