Charity Challenge – Summit a peak for the Malayan Tiger

Charity Challenge – raise funds for the Malayan Tiger Foundation and support poacher Surveillance patrols in Malaysia.

Climb to the highest peaks of Peninsular Malaysia and help the rainforest animals whilst doing so.

In collaboration with the Malayan Tiger Foundation, a UK registered charity, you will join our crazy family and summit one of the 3 highest peaks in Peninsular Malaysia. All 3 peaks are in prime Tiger territory. Mount Tahan is the mountain in Taman Negara, Malaysia’s premier National Park. Mount Korbu and Mount Yong Belar are both in the Titiwangsa Range which form the spine of Peninsular Malaysia.

Why Malayan Tigers?
The Malayan Tiger was announced as critically endangered in 2015 with less than 300 wild individuals left in the world. The Tigers have suffer significantly from poaching, mainly for their bones and fur and act as an iconic species for the tropical Rainforests of Malaysia. Thus if you protect the Malayan Tiger, you are protecting the Malayan Tapir, Sun Bears, Malayan Gaur, Leopards, Elephants, Dhole, Gibbons, Pangolins the list is endless. Furthermore the rainforests of Peninsular Malaysia are the oldest in the world, older than the Amazon and older than Borneo. These are treasures that must be saved.

How will my donation help conservation?
The money you raise will go 100% to the cause of increasing poaching surveillance patrols in the Sungei Yu Wildlife Corridor and the Titiwangsa Range. These patrols will be led by local people who call these forests their homes. During the patrols they will search for signs of poachers and if any are found they will report to the authorities who will take legal action. Subsequently the increased employment opportunities will help these people as well whom might otherwise need to poach to help make ends meet.

  • We recommend for first-time groups to climb Yong Belar, which starts in the Cameron Highlands.

    The beautiful trek
Yong Belar is a great trek for beginners and school groups. The peak is only 10m lower than Tahan and the views along the trek are amazing. The trek also starts at a high altitude so leeches are non existent, which is always great.
